The first time I heard Tinariwen, I was at the desert in the south of Lybia. One evening while preparing the tea, Moussa, our Tuareg guide originary from Niger, was listening to this intense, hypnotic music, a unique combination of traditional Tuareg music with some old ancestor of Blues...
For those who don't know Tinariwen's music, they sing mainly in Tamashek which is a Berber language spoken by the Tuareg in many parts of Mali, Niger, Algeria, Libya and Burkina Faso.
